WAR EAGLES TRAVEL TEAMS

To learn more about the travel teams we offer, please review our options below to find the best fit for your player.

NATIONAL

  • National Teams are comprised of our club's top-performing 13U-18U athletes, seriously dedicated the sport, many of whom want to continue playing in college. As it is the most competitive division our club offers, all players and parents understand that playtime on National Teams is not guaranteed, and is at discretion of the Head Coach.

  • Compete in 9-10 AAU, JVA, and USAV tournaments, both in, and out of Palmetto Region. Parents should expect multiple tournaments to have stay-to-play or stay-to-save requirements where specific housing must be booked in order for the team to qualify for the tournament.

  • The season runs January through June with practices starting around Thanksgiving. All 13U-17U National teams conclude their season at the AAU Junior Nationals in Orlando, FL (mid-to-late June). The 18U teams will complete their seasons at the USAV 18U Nationals.

  • Players who commit to National Teams are expected to attend ALL tournaments and practices. Multi-sport athletes, or players who participate in extracurricular activities for their school may find our Semi-National schedules work better with balancing their club volleyball and school activities.

SEMI-NATIONAL

  • Available for ages 13U-18U, a Semi-National season runs January through May and consists of 7-8 tournaments. The majority of these competitions will be in Palmetto Region (South Carolina) where the common tournament locations include facilities in Rock Hill, Columbia, and Spartanburg.

  • Semi National teams implement fair (not equal) playtime to highlight each player's strengths. At tournaments, everyone will get court-time in pool-play, but bracket-play rotations are up to the Coach's discretion. In brackets, expect to see the strongest rotation that will give the team the best chance of winning.

  • Players and parents understand that practice is where players get their reps in to improve both their physical and mental games. Player attendance at all practices and tournaments is expected, but Semi-National teams are more flexible when it comes to players who have addition extracurricular commitments.

REGIONAL 12U

  • Competition begins in January, and consists of 6-7 Palmetto Region tournaments. They have the same amount of weekly practices as the 13U-18U teams, just a shorter season that concludes at the PVA Championships in late March/early April.

  •  Player attendance at all practices and tournaments is expected. All 12U players use a '12U light' volleyball that is significantly lighter than a standard adult volleyball. Unlike the 12-D teams, 12U players are required to serve from behind the baseline at tournaments.

  • Playtime is more equally distributed on Regional Teams. At tournaments, coaches will do their best to play everyone as much as possible without sacrificing the overall goal of getting as far into bracket-play as possible. Parents can expect to see their athlete play at least a few rotations in every match -- pending their behavior & practice attendance are in good-standing.

DEVELOPMENTAL 12U

  • For players twelve and under, who are true beginners or at a developmental skill level. The 12D teams compete in 6-7 Development/Kids-Power tournaments from January to March/April. They have the same number of weekly practices as 12U.

  • At tournaments there a modified rules when it comes to serving, scoring, and rotations. You may substitute players at any time to allow players to have as close to equal playing time as possible. All players allowed to attempt to serve from behind the 10ft line. Unlimited subs.
